Create a new type of in-app "reminder" icon for mobile app

i want an in-app icon designed for "reminders". instead of calling this function "reminders", I am calling it "beacons". I need an icon which looks like a lighthouse (hence beacon). this will be an in-app which will sit in a menu bar on a smartphone screen. this should be the same size as Facebook icons such as newsfeed, friends, chat etc. which are found on the menu bar. this will be grey colour only. however, I would like to integrate the concept of having a reminder waiting which is to be red. so in other words, when there is a reminder waiting, part of the icon lights up in red. when there is no new reminder, the icon is only grey. the design should be simple with relatively think outline. something that might appeal to young adults. thanks
